      FAQs About UPPAbaby Car Seats

Yes, both are FAA certified for airplane use. That means you can install either on your own airplane seat, so your child rides in it during the flight. The Aria V2 is the easy traveler at just 6 pounds, and its Travel Bag for the Aria (sold separately) protects it if you check it. The Rove is certified too, but at about 25 pounds and a larger footprint, it's usually the pick when you need a convertible waiting at your destination, not a grab-and-go travel seat.

They meet the federal standard and add extra crash protection. Every car seat we sell meets the U.S. safety standard (FMVSS 213), and both UPPAbaby seats add always-engaged side-impact protection with energy-absorbing EPP foam, plus the SmartSecure system, a red-to-green indicator that confirms a correct install at a glance. Beyond that, each is built for its stage: the Aria V2 adds a load leg and Anti-Rebound+ panel, while the Rove adds a multi-directional tether that limits seat rotation in a crash.

The infant Aria clicks onto strollers; the Rove doesn't. The Aria V2 connects to UPPAbaby's Vista and Cruz with no adapters, and to the Minu, the Ridge, and many other brands with the matching adapter. The Rove is a convertible, so it installs with the vehicle belt or LATCH and isn't designed to clip onto a stroller. Want the seat and stroller as one purchase? We carry the Aria travel systems.

The two we carry are; but not ever UPPAbaby seat is, including the Mesa V3. Both the Aria V2 and the Rove are made without chemical fire retardants in both the fabric and the foam, and both are GREENGUARD Gold certified, which means they're tested for low chemical emissions. That whole-seat standard is why they earn a spot on our clean list; we only stock car seats made with no added fire retardants. See how we vet them in our article about fire retardants in car seats.
